More Red Cross Volunteers Deployed
Two local American Red Cross volunteers are leaving for Florida today in advance of Hurricane Irma.
The volunteers both attended last week's boot camp training in Glens Falls.
They're prepared to assist with Red Cross shelter operations if and when they are needed.
Prospective volunteers must be willing and able to serve in a disaster-affected area for a minimum of 14 consecutive days within the next month. The Red Cross will cover all training and travel costs for individuals who are deployed.
More than 150 people were trained last week in Albany, Glens Falls and Utica.
Another boot camp training session will be held in Utica on Saturday at a yet to be determined location.
More information is available online.
