Nearly $10 million in federal funding has been awarded to the Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency for its Head Start and Early Head Start programs.

The funding comes from the U.S Department of Health and Human Services and was announced by Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand.

It will be used to support child care services for low-income families in Oneida, Herkimer and Madison Counties.

“Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency is honored to continue providing Head Start and Early Head Start services to 919 children and families of Oneida, Herkimer and Madison Counties. MVCAA has implemented Head Start in this community for fifty years and we know first- hand the positive impact it has on the families involved,” said Amy Turner, Executive Director, Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency, Inc.
