Public school students in New York City will have another day off about which to celebrate.

Mayor Bill de Blasio has officially added to Lunar New Year to the list of public school holidays.

In observance of the holiday, schools will be closed in New York City on February 8th, 2016 for the 2015-2016 academic year.

In March de Blasio declared that two Islamic holidays, Eidal-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, will also be public holidays in the district.
