New York State Police are recognizing the life and service of Sergeant Jeffrey M. Cicora. He passed away on August 10th from a 9/11 related illness.

According to the New York State Police Facebook page, Trooper Cicora died Saturday from an illness that originated from his assignment at Ground Zero on September 11th, 2001 and the days following.

Sergeant Cicora was assigned to search and rescue operations at the World Trade Center site following the terrorist attack in Manhattan.

Cicora served for 24 years in the State Police and retired in 2017 due to his illness. He is survived by his wife and son, who live in Baldwinsville, NY.
