The New York Daily news is joining the list of media outlets that will no longer use the name 'Redskins' when reporting on the NFL's Washington Redskins football team.

The Daily News Published an editorial today called 'sack the name,' calling the nickname unacceptable and a throwback to an era of casual racial attitudes.

They say in sports coverage, the team will simply be referred to as 'Washington,' and their logo will be replaced with an image showing the teams colors, burgundy and gold.

The 'Change The Mascot Campaign' began as an effort of the Oneida Indian Nation to stop use of what they say is an offensive stereotype.
