NY Man Gets Prison For Fatally Attacking Wife In Bed

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) — A New York man who fatally attacked his wife as she lay in bed has been sent to prison by a judge who called him a "gutless coward."

Westchester County Judge Barry Warhit sentenced Joseph Abraham of Yonkers on Wednesday to 18 years to life behind bars.

Amanda Trenck, who was the mother of a little girl, was slain in May 2017.

Family members told the court about the pain they endure.

Jeff Trenck said his daughter woke up while she was being stabbed in the back then suffered more wounds and broken ribs while trying to defending herself.

The victim's grandmother, Anne Trenck, referred to the defendant by his inmate number instead of his name. She said the pair's 3-year-old will face lifelong struggles.
