Lafayette, NY (WIBX) - State Police in Lafayette arrested a Town of Clay man and charged him with Burglary, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property and Menacing, after responding to a burglary in progress at a residence in the Town of Onondaga. Officials say the incident started when the homeowner came home to the suspects' vehicle parked in his driveway. After confronting the suspect--27-year-old Michael J. Piontkowski--he attempted to drive away, but instead damaged the homeowners car and house.

Police say Pointkowski was able to flee on foot after threatening the homeowner with a knife. He was subsequently located on a different block--Parapet Drive--and placed under arrest. Pointkowski was remanded to the Onondaga County Justice Center with bail set at $20,000 cash/bond.

Pointkowski is facing the following charges:

  • Burglary in the First Degree (Class B Felony)
  • Menacing in the Second Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)
  • Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the fifth degree (Class A Misdemeanor)
