A fallen hero is being honored in a ceremony this week.

Oriskany Street (State Route 5A) will be renamed the Officer Thomas Lindsey Highway.  This follows the renaming of a portion of Route 5a and 5s in Lindsey's honor this past summer.

The ceremony will take place on Friday, January 31, 2014 at 9:30am along Oriskany Street east of the intersection with Whitesboro Street near the Utica-Yorkville boundary.

Representatives from the Utica Police Department, along with State Senator Joseph Griffo, Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi, Mayor Robert Palmieri, and Department of Transportation officials will preside over the dedication.

Officer Lindsey was the Utica Police officer who was killed during a traffic stop on April 12, 2007 by Wesley Molina-Cirino, who is serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
