Pair Who Tried To Scam Local Businesses Arrested

An Oneonta couple that had been the subject of a scam alert issued by Utica Police have been arrested.

36-year old Joshua Eckman and 46-year old Michelle Schaffner are charged with attempted petty larceny and conspiracy.

Police say the pair were allegedly contacting businesses, telling them they had ordered from their business, but the order was incorrect and demanded a refund.

They say no orders were ever placed with the businesses by the two.

Eckman and Schaffner were located by police with the help of local business owners.
