GREECE, N.Y. (AP) — Police say an 86-year-old man has died after he suffered a head injury during a break-in last month at his western New York home.

Authorities say Charles Fields died over the weekend following an Oct. 8 burglary at his home in the Monroe County town of Greece.

Police said a vehicle belonging to Fields was stolen during the break-in. It was found later that day in Rochester.

It wasn't immediately clear how Fields suffered the injury. He was taken to the hospital for an evaluation.

Officials say an investigation is ongoing.

Police say the break-in was targeted and that they've identified a person of interest in the case.

Police wouldn't say whether an arrest had been made.
