WATERFORD, N.Y. (AP) — A memorial service will be held next week in an upstate New York town to honor a Marine Corps pilot killed along with 15 other U.S. servicemen when their military plane crashed in Mississippi last month.

The Times Union reports (http://bit.ly/2whnu8j ) the service for Maj. Caine Goyette will be held Aug. 9 at Soldiers and Sailors Park in Waterford, just north of Albany. The 41-year-old married father of two grew up in Waterford and was living in Greenville, south of Albany, when he died.

Military officials say Goyette and 14 other Marines and one sailor died when their Newburgh, New York-based KC-130 Hercules aircraft crashed July 10 in the Mississippi Delta while flying from the East Coast to Arizona for a training mission.

Private services for Goyette were held last Wednesday in Greenville.
