The Rome Police Department recently received reaccreditation at a ceremony in Albany.

The ceremony recognized the department for maintaining standards in areas like training, administration and operations that are set by the NYS Law Enforcement Accreditation Program.

After passing an onsite inspection in September, the accreditation council voted to award accreditation to the department.

The Rome PD was first accredited in 2003.

Only 25 percent of all New York State Police agencies are accredited.
