Rome Police are investigating a distraction burglary that happened on September 19.

Police say an Hispanic man in his 20's knocked on a senior citizen's door, claiming to own a tree service.

The man then asked to purchase some of the trees in the victim's yard, and convinced her to go into the backyard to discuss the potential sale.

While there, she says the man spoke Spanish into his cellphone, and confused, the victim asked him for ID. He then said he would get his ID from his vehicle, but left the scene instead.

When the victim went back inside the house after talking with the suspect in her backyard, she found that several rooms had been ransacked and she was missing valuables.

The suspect was driving a black pickup truck, and anyone with information is asked to contact Rome police at 339-7715.
