The Treehouse Reading & Arts Center is celebrating National Independent Bookstore Day on Saturday.

Treehouse Reading & Arts Center is an indie bookshop that looks to create a comfortable learning environment for growing readers, according to a press release announcing Saturday's events.

The celebration includes:

  • 10am - Flipped Story Hour - Kids are invited to read us their favorite story! (all ages - little ones can show pictures and tell the story).
  • 11am - Kids Story and Craft - We have a special story and craft to go with one of our exclusive offers for the day! Kids will make their own "Read with Me Tote Bags".
  • 12pm - Musical Showcase - Treehouse music students will entertain with some musical performances.
  • 1pm - Writers Showcase - Kids from the Treehouse writers group will share their writings followed by a lightening writing contest all child attendees can participate in.
  • 2pm-3:30pm - Building a Great Community - Local middle grade readers will join local author, Pat Laino from the Women's Business Center to share ideas about starting businesses that build great communities.

All attending Saturday are encouraged to bring a book in good condition to donate to the Literacy Coalition of Herkimer and Oneida Counties.
