Seoul, South Korea (WIBX) - Park Geun-hye is South Korea's first female President.

The country's news service, YTN, is reporting that the conservative candidate has received official congratulations from South Korea's outgoing President Lee Myung-bak and President Barack Obama as well as a concession from her liberal opponent Moon Jae-in of the Democratic United Party.

Park's father, former army general and South Korean President Park Chung-hee, was a controversial leader.  A member of his own security team killed him in 1979 following two prior assassination attempts allegedly made on behalf of the government of North Korea.
