Motorists are reminded to be cautious  as children make the trick-or-treating rounds and may be darting across streets.

Some alternatives to the house-by-house treat-mission are being offered around the region.  One of those is the second annual Trunk or Treat event hosted by the Johnson City Police Association and Police Department along with the Goodwill Theater, Schorr Family Firehouse Stage and Johnson City Neighborhood Project.  The event runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Schorr Family Firehouse Stage on Willow Street.

Several organizations are participating with vehicles that have trunks decorated for the occasion and stocked with treats.

Activities, goodies and some scares are also planned.

For families planning the traditional trick or treating, adults are reminded to make sure children’s costumes are clearly visible to motorists, do not impede a child’s view and are not a tripping hazard.  Children should never enter homes and candy should be checked at home for any tampering.
