State Police Investigating Fatal Car Pedestrian Accident In Westmoreland

A Westmoreland man was killed when he was hit by a car after checking his mailbox.

State Police say 71-year old Charles Hast was hit by a car on Wednesday afternoon while crossing Bartlett Road.

Hast was taken to a local hospital where he died.

Troopers say the driver of the vehicle attempted to swerve but was unable to avoid striking Hast.

The investigation is continuing.
