More than 14,000 tickets were issued by State Police during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Governor Andrew Cuomo says that's a 30%  increase in tickets from last year's holiday crackdown.

"New York has zero tolerance for impaired and reckless drivers who put themselves and others at risk," Governor Cuomo said. "I commend State Police keeping these dangerous drivers off the roads and helping to prevent needless tragedies this holiday weekend."

Nearly 6,000 tickets were issued for speeding, more than 700 for distracted driving, and there were 218 DWI arrests.

"Operation Hang Up" ran from Wednesday before Thanksgiving through the Sunday after.
