Rome Police have arrested three men for an alleged assault that happened Tuesday night outside of the Marshalls store on Erie Boulevard.

Police responded to a robbery in progress and when they arrived, they saw the men assaulting another man who was on the ground.

41-year Raul Polanco and 37-year old Felix Fargas of Rome and 46-year old Rafael Gonzalez of Utica are charged with assault.

The investigation is continuing and more charges may be filed.

The victim was taken to Rome Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The exact motive for the crime has not yet been determined, but police believe the victim is familiar with at least one of the suspects.

No weapon has been recovered, but two vehicles that are believed to belong to one of the suspects were located at the scene and have been secured.

Rome Police will be obtaining a search warrant for these vehicles as soon as possible.
