SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Motorists traveling between Syracuse and Rochester on the New York State Thruway can expect traffic slowdowns this week because of work being done on utility lines that cross the highway.

The Thruway Authority says National Grid will replace overhead power lines along Interstate 90 between Exit 43 and Exit 44 in Ontario County, southeast of Rochester.

The agency says the work will require periodic traffic slowdowns that aren't expected to last more than 15 minutes in both directions.

The slowdowns are scheduled to occur starting at noon Monday, 10 a.m. Wednesday, 6:30 a.m. Saturday and 6:30 a.m. Sunday.

Eastbound traffic will slow down at the rest area between Exit 46 and Exit 45, which are both outside Rochester. Westbound traffic will slow down starting Exit 43.
