San Francisco, CA (WIBX) - Twitter is handing over information that will hopefully help the New York City Police Department get to the bottom of a series of threatening tweets about Mike Tyson's one-man show on Broadway.

The social network company was subpoenaed Tuesday in an effort to speed up disclosure about the identity of a Twitter account holder who sent messages about making up a hit list and shooting people at the New York City showing of Mike Tyson's "Undisputed Truth" at the Longacre Theater on Broadway.

In one of the messages the user tweeted, "I'm serious, people are gonna die like aurora."

Twitter had refused to give up the information citing concerns over privacy.  Officials worried that delays in identifying the sender of the message could cause unnecessary risks to public safety.

The investigation into the threats is continuing.
