The Utica bar that was the site of a homicide earlier this month has had its liquor license suspended.

The New York State Liquor Authority has issued an Emergency Suspension for Two J's Bar on Rutger Street.

Effective immediately, no alcohol can be served or consumed on the premises.

The SLA charged the bar with four violations of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Law.

Utica Police have been called to Two J's numerous times over the past years to respond to fights and patrons in possession of guns.

The bar was fined $6,000 by the SLA in 2010 and $5,000 last year.

“Two J’s is a dangerous bar that drains police resources and a threatens the safety of residents living in this community,” said SLA Chairman Dennis Rosen. “Bar owners that cannot
control their establishments will lose their liquor license.”

23-year old Andre Oilver-Kenney of Utica was found shot dead in the bar's parking lot on January 18th.
