Two Rome Men Facing Charges After Weekend Shooting
Two Rome men have been arrested after an 18-year old was shot in the leg during a dispute in Rome over the weekend.
Rome Police say the altercation erupted during a drug deal gone bad.
They say three individuals went to a home on West Liberty Street to get drugs and attempted to rob the resident. Police say during the robbery attempt, a handgun was pulled and at least one shot was fired.
Police have charged 27-year old Antoine Williams assault and two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance. 23-year old Kendell Savage is facing a charge of criminal contempt.
The shooting victim was taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.
A dog that was inside the residence died as a result of a gunshot wound, police said.
During their investigation, police executed a search warrant and seized cocaine, four pounds of marijuana and cash, along with a loaded handgun.
Police say the investigation is continuing and further charges are pending.
