Utica, NY (WIBX) - The Utica Fire Department says it will continue to advocate to Governor Cuomo to sign legislation passed by both the state Senate and Assembly regarding the Certificate of Need for the UFD's ambulance service.

Assistant Fire Chief George Clark says this will hopefully end the 7-year controversy regarding the service.

Clark says the present system for awarding a Certificate of Need is flawed and needs to be remedied.

The legislation would allow the city to apply for permanent certification to run its ambulance service.
