ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say as many as 30 people have been forced from their Albany homes after a fire started in an abandoned house and quickly spread to three neighboring structures.

Albany fire officials say the fire was reported around 6:20 a.m. Friday on North Manning Boulevard. When crews arrived on the scene there were flames coming from the back of the buildings.

City firefighters received assistance from fire crews from nearby Troy, Watervliet and Green Island.

Workers from a bakery plant across the street from the homes saw the smoke and knocked on doors to alert residents about the fire.

No injuries have been reported but officials say 26 to 30 people living in the three occupied homes have been displaced.

There's no word yet on what may have caused the fire.
