Utica Man Arrested After Incident On Thruway

Utica, NY (WIBX)- State Police arrested a Utica man following an alleged robbery and assault at a service area on the Thruway.

Police say 22-year old Denis Alibegic attempted to fuel his vehicle without paying for it and assaulted the gas station attendant with a hammer.

Troopers say the attendant was able to fend off the attack and call 9-1-1.

Alibegic was charged with DWI, robbery. assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

Police say Alibegic is also likely to face charges for a burglary at a Utica liquor store earlier that evening.
