Utica Police are investigating a shots fired incident that happened in the area of Hope Street Thursday.

While Police were en route it was relayed to officers a man was standing on a front porch brandishing an assault rifle.

Upon arrival, officers encountered several individuals exiting from a back yard of the property in question.

The individuals were interviewed and during the course of the investigation a loaded AK-47 style rifle was located in the yard where the parties fled from.

Two men were detained and brought to the Utica Police Department for questioning and one of the men was found to be in possession of a quantity of heroin and crack cocaine.

33-year-old Thomas Bell of Utica and 28-year-old Detron Brown of Utica were both arrested and face a variety of charges.
