Utica Police Officer Charged With Assault

A Utica Police officer has been arrested in connection with an off-duty incident that happened on Culver Court in Utica.

Jacob Penree, who's been a member of the UPD for ten years, is charged with assault.

He's accused of starting an altercation which resulted in the victim sustaining facial injuries.

Penree is suspended without pay.

Utica Police say due to the ongoing internal investigation, the department is restricted from commenting on personnel issues.
