The Utica Police Department has a new high-tech Mobile Command Center.

The Center, which was purchased with the help of a $250,000 state grant secured by Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi, was unveiled on Thursday..

Chief Mark Williams says the Mobile Command Center is essentially a police station on wheels that will provide the UPD and Utica firefighters with a mobile headquarters for emergency situations and major community events.

The Command Center is equipped with the latest cutting edge technology, including state-of-the-art surveillance, radio and satellite systems.

The Center is also designed with a conference room large enough to conduct strategy meetings.

“This mobile command post is an invaluable tool in enhancing public safety for many different situations.  I thank Assemblyman Brindisi for his continued advocacy and providing the resources needed to keep our community safe,” said Utica Mayor Robert Palmieri.
