Two Utica Police officers saved the life of a woman who was overdosing on heroin Thursday morning.

Officers responded to a call that two people were using drugs in a vehicle in the Advanced Auto parking lot on Genesee Street.

When they arrived, they found Lauren Lagree, 26, of Rome, unresponsive in the passenger seat and administered two doses of Narcan to revive her.

A search of the car found multiple hypodermic needles, heroin and prescription drugs.

After being treated at a local hospital, Lagree and the driver of the car Ryan Sorrell, 32, of Rome, were charged with possession of a controlled substance and a hypodermic needle.

The officers say Lagree thanked them for saving her life.
