Utica Woman Accused Of Stealing Car

A Utica woman is facing charges for allegedly stealing a car.

Utica Police say a man flagged down an officer in the area of Court and Schuyler Streets and told them he had left his vehicle running while he went into a store.

The man said when he left the store, he found his vehicle had been stolen.

An officer saw the vehicle and tried to stop it, but 29-year old Kimneshia Jackson failed to pull over and a vehicle pursuit began.

The car eventually crashed into a tree on Warren Street and police say Jackson fled on foot.  She was taken into custody following a brief foot chase.

Jackson is charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and 11 vehicle and traffic law violations.
