ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Young waterfowl hunters in northern New York will get a chance to go out this weekend.

Hunting seasons for waterfowl, ducks and geese begin next month in many parts of the state. But "junior" hunters, aged 12 to 15 years, can go out before the regular seasons at specified times and places.

Youth waterfowl days will be held in the Northeast and Lake Champlain hunting zones on Saturday and Sunday. Separate youth waterfowl days will be held Oct. 14-15 in the Western Zone and November 11-12 in the Long Island Zone.

Junior hunters must be accompanied by a licensed adult hunter, and both hunters must be registered with the government's Harvest Information Program. Adult hunters also must have a federal migratory bird stamp.
