April is National Child Abuse Prevention and Sexual Assault Awareness Month and the YWCA of the Mohawk Valley is planning several activities.

The YWCA's goal is to raise awareness about the impact of sexual violence on child and adult victims and to connect those in need with support services.

An "Open Mic Night" for survivors will be held on April 29th at the YWCA on Cornelia Street in Utica.

Throughout April, the YWCA's Herkimer County Child Advocacy Center in ilion will display a "Pinwheels For Prevention" campiagn representing the 297 child victims served in 2013.
