Cuomo Announces Funding To Prevent Domestic Violence
New York is receiving more than $4.3 million dollars for programs across the state that serve domestic violence victims.
The funding is provided through the Federal Family Violence Prevention and Services Act.
Governor Andrew Cuomo says the funding will help 56 prevention programs to help families across the state.
"Too many families experience violence at home, and my administration has made it a priority to help New Yorkers break this cycle of abuse," Governor Cuomo said. "This funding will support proven programs that are designed to help victims and combat the problem of domestic violence all across this state."
Locally, the YWCA of the Mohawk Valley and Catholic Charities of Herkimer County will both get $72.250.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
The New York State Domestic Violence Hotline is 1-800-942-6906.
