24-Year-Old Woman Killed In Route 12 Weekend Crash
A woman is dead following a two-car crash on Route 12 in Kirkland, just south of Tibbitts Road.
According to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office, a Toyota Prius operated by 30-year-old Bryan Forte of Utica was traveling north on Route 12 when his vehicle crossed into the oncoming traffic lane.
Forte's car then struck a pickup truck being driven by 25-year-old Jacob Schultz of Utica.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered a female passenger in Forte's vehicle, 24-year-old Hannah Rice, had passed away.
Schultz was transported to St. Elizabeth's in Utica where he was treated and released.
Forte was also transported to St. Elizabeth's and is now being treated at SUNY hospital in Syracuse. His condition is unknown, but injuries were not life threatening.
Route 12 was shut down for several hours as investigators reconstructed the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
