Three people had to be rescued from a boat on Sylvan Beach following a late night boating mishap.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office says an inexperienced boater was operating a vessel on Sylvan Beach after midnight Sunday morning when she struck a semi-submerged break wall.  No one was hurt, but the boat was left inoperable and started to take on water. Deputies responded to rescue the group on the stranded vessel.

Jodie Sherman of Cicero was ticketed for operating a vessel at a greater speed than 5 MPH while being within 100 feet of a structure, deputies said.
