The Alliance for Quality Education (AQE) is launching a campaign targeting upstate Senators to halt a plan to send $25 million in "bullet aid" to charter schools.

AQE says most of the charter schools are located in New York City.

They want lawmakers instead to vote to invest the money in their local schools.

Bullet aid for school districts is included in the state budget every year and is normally distributed to public schools around the state based on needs identified by legislators.

As part of the campaign, AQE protested in front of Senator Joseph Griffo's office at the State Office Building in Utica today.

On Monday, AQE and students from Herkimer protested in front of Senator James Seward's office.
