Burt Reynolds, the iconic mustachioed star of classics ranging from Smokey and the Bandit to Boogie Nights, has passed away at the age of 82. The actor died early Thursday at Jupiter Medical Center in Florida, as confirmed by his manager. No cause of death has been given at this time.

In recent months, while promoting the release of his upcoming indie feature I Love You, Daddy, Louis C.K. has been asked about rumors of his sexual misconduct that have circulated for years. Given that some parts of his film eerily — and perhaps even brazenly — evoke those rumors, it’s a fair question, but one he has repeatedly dodged, refusing to validate those rumors by so much as acknowledging them. But after five women came forward with allegations about C.K.’s past sexual misconduct in the New York Times, the comedian has finally broken his silence in a heartfelt letter.

This afternoon, the New York premiere of Louis C.K.’s upcoming film I Love You, Daddy was canceled amid reports that the New York Times was on the verge of publishing a major story about the comedian. That story is, as many suspected, a damning exposé on C.K.’s history of alleged sexual misconduct. Five women went on the record with the Times to share stories of uncomfortable encounters with C.K., the oldest of which dates back to the late ’90s.

Don Rickles’ talents were seemingly limitless: An outrageous insult comic, a gifted dramatic actor, a welcome sight on stages and screens (big and small), and a constant presence whose career endured for decades, often surpassing his contemporaries. And now he’s gone on to join them, as the legendary Rickles passed away today, April 6, at the age of 90.

At some point we’re all going to have to stop asking, “Is this real life?! Is this really happening right now?!” The daily proliferation of surreal news headlines will never feel normal (nor should they), but it’s the frequency our country is operating at now, and it will likely continue at this pitch for the next four years, which officially kicked off today. In the latest episode of The Surreal Life, Donald Trump basically plagiarized Bane, Tom Hardy’s mush-mouthed villain from The Dark Knight Rises, in his inauguration speech.

Robert Vaughn, best known for his television roles in such classics as The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and The Protectors, has passed away at the age of 83. Vaughn, who began his career in the ’50s with appearances on shows like As the World Turns and West Point, died today, November 11. His manager, Matthew Sullivan, confirmed that Vaughn succumbed to a fight with acute leukemia.

Last week, Robert Downey Jr. revealed that Sherlock Holmes 3 will begin filming this year, with Guy Ritchie returning to direct the long-developing sequel. Lo and behold today’s update that a new screenwriter has been tapped to rewrite the script — because when Robert Downey Jr. says something is happening, he enters into a binding verbal contract with the universe and essentially wills his thoughts into existence.

Back in 1997, George Lucas re-released the original Star Wars trilogy in digitally altered “special editions,” and asserted that these were the only “true” editions of the classic films. The original, unaltered versions became rare — you can find them on VHS, and they are included on a DVD release (though the transfer is poor), and there are some original 35mm prints floating around, but fans have been desperate for Lucasfilm to restore and re-release the unaltered versions on Blu-ray. While we wait for something that may never come, one anonymous group has uncovered an original 35mm print and cleaned it up.

J.J. Abrams pulled off some pretty effortless misdirection, keeping us all so occupied with Star Wars: The Force Awakens that we had no idea about this little indie project he was producing titled 10 Cloverfield Lane. The trailer arrived with no warning, followed by Abrams confirming that the film is indeed related to Cloverfield, though it’s not really a direct sequel. One of the stars of his new mystery project is Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who has opened up just a tiny bit about the secrecy surrounding the film and what we can expect when it hits theaters.
