Utica, NY (WIBX) - Steven Barnes has received $3.5 million in a settlement with New York State for his wrongful conviction in the murder of Kimberly Simon.

According the Utica Observer Dispatch, the state court of claims approved the settlement in October.

In the report, Barnes says you can't put a price on the 19 years he spent in jail, but, quote- "this helps."

Barnes was exonerated of the crime in 2008.
