Albany, NY (WIBX) - Legislation that will give small breweries a new avenue for ending unfavorable, exclusive contracts with beer wholesalers has passed the state Assembly.

The bill's sponsor, Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi, says the current law is outdated and is based on a marketplace that no longer exists.

He says the new legislation will help small breweries like the FX Matt Brewing Company expand their businesses.

Chairman and CEO Nick Matt says the legislation takes a major step forward to level the playing field for companies like theirs.
