SCRIBA, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say they've recovered the body of a Pennsylvania man who died when his boat sank on Lake Ontario last weekend.

The Oswego County Sheriff's Office says 56-year-old Mark Deiter, of Walnutport in eastern Pennsylvania, was fishing with two other people when their 23-foot motor vessel began taking on water around 5:30 p.m. Saturday about a mile off the town of Scriba (SKREYE'-buh) shore.

The two others jumped out and used their floatation devices and a cooler to stay afloat until they were rescued by other fishermen around 90 minutes later.

Deputies say Deiter remained on the boat as it sank. A search by the U.S. Coast Guard and local police and emergency crews was launched.

Officials say his body was recovered Monday after being found inside the boat in about 100 feet of water.
