A fire at Adrean Terrace in Utica has left a young girl in critical condition.

According to Assistant Fire Chief, George Clark, the fire was called in at about 5:20 Friday evening at 62 and 64 West Adrean Terrace.

"Crews immediately went to work," Clark said. "A couple of them went on ladders up to the second floor, and jumped into the second floor. They did a search and did find one child, removed the child, put her in the ambulance and took her to the hospital."

Clark says the 4 year-old girl was taken up to Upstate Medical Center, in critical condition. The rest of the family of ten are presumed safe including her parents and seven siblings, many of which were not home.

The fire began on the first floor, but spread to the second. Crews responded quickly, getting the fire under control in about 20 minutes. Those displaced are being assisted by the Red Cross.
