A new candidate has emerged for one of the two open positions on the Utica School Board. Briana Moriarty is a lifelong resident of the City of Utica and has a Master's degree in Education.

Moriarty is passionate about improving the quality of education in the Utica School District. According to a release Moriarty says,

Utica is moving in the right direction but we need to make improvements within our district in order to retain and attract young families, and that starts with a School Board that is accessible and responsive to the concerns of teachers, parents and students. I’m grateful for our school district as it helped shape me into the person I am today, and I believe serving on the school board would be a great opportunity for me to give back to our community.

Moriarty graduated from Proctor High School in 2004. She attended the University of Oneonta and received a bachelor's degree in History. She received her Education Master's degree in 2011 from the University of Phoenix.

The School Board election will take place on May 16th.
