Congressman Anthony Brindisi hosted a Health Insurance Roundtable with small business owners and local elected officials at the Adirondack Bank Center on Wednesday.

Brindisi says the looming 2020 Health Insurance Tax would increase costs for Upstate New York families, seniors and individuals.

He's co-sponsoring bi-partisan legislation in the House that would permanently repeal the tax.

Brindisi says if the tax is not repealed, consumers, small businesses and local governments will pay more for their health insurance premiums.

"Upstate New Yorkers are already worried about skyrocketing health care costs, and the Health Insurance Tax will only make things worse.  It's time to eliminate this harmful tax once and for all, and my bi-partisan legislation will do just that" said Congressman Brindisi.

Brindisi says 142 million Americans will pay more for their health insurance if the tax goes into effect.
