Congressman Anthony Brindisi and his wife Erica visited the Utica Public Library On Friday to deliver books from the Library of Congress and meet with staff.

The visit kicked off a new program -- "Brindisi Bookworms" -- which will take the Congressman across the district to help fill bookshelves.

Brindisi says the Library of Congress Surplus Book Program allows members of Congress to donate the Library's extra books to schools, libraries and community centers.

"In our house, reading is a family affair.  I'm glad to have Erica join me to help get kids excited about reading and develop the skills the need for successful futures," said Brindisi.

About two dozen books were donated to the Utica Public Library.
