A lack of snow cover is increasing the chance of brush fire in the region.

Susquehanna County has issued a county-wide burn ban starting March 5 through April 4, 2016.

While the area has gotten some rain, the lack of snow is keeping ground cover like leaves and twigs from becoming saturated with moisture.

Campfires are still allowed in fire rings that contain the flames in licensed and designated areas.

Offenders could face fines of $100 for a first offense and $300 for a third offense.
