Marianne Buttonschon is running for the State Assembly seat being vacated by Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi.

Buttonschon, a Democrat, made her announcement Wednesday morning at the Veteran’s Outreach Center in Utica.

She says athough the election is more than a year away, there is too much work to be done.  Buttonschon say if she's elected to the Assembly, jobs and school funding will be her top priorities.

Buttonschon is the Dean of the Institute for Emergency Preparedness and Public Service at Mohawk Valley Community College.

She's the daughter of long-time Oneida County legislator William Goodman.

Brindisi will be running for the 22nd District Congressional seat held by Claudia Tenney in 2018.
