A new campaign is underway to promote testing for men to detect cancer.

It's being launched by WIBX's Bill Keeler and former Utica Boilermaker President Tim Reed, along with the Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties

Keeler and Reed, who both received successful treatment for cancer in the last year, started "Real Men Get Tested", which targets men in the Mohawk Valley.

“We’re asking guys to take our pledge to communicate with their health care provider along with family and friends and get tested,” said Reed. “Men often times ignore the warning signs and avoid the simple tests like the PSA blood test and colonoscopies which can detect cancer early while it’s treatable. If we can just convince one guy to get tested, we’ve done our job.”

The program will run through Father's Day 2020 and will include radio, TV and print.
