WEST NYACK, N.Y. (AP) — Police say a car dealership worker has been shot during an apparent clash with a customer in suburban New York.

Authorities are looking for the gunman after the shooting around 3:15 p.m. Saturday at Youbs Auto Sales. It's a used-car business in West Nyack.

The 37-year-old employee was wounded in the torso and taken for surgery. There's no further information on his condition Saturday night.

The gunman is believed to have fled in a car.

Clarkstown Police Lt. Pete Walker tells reporters that investigators don't yet know whether the gunman and the victim knew each other.

The car dealership didn't immediately respond to an email inquiry Saturday night.
