Cassville Man Killed In Motorcycle Accident In Marcy

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal motorcycle accident that happened Thursday night on Route 291 in Marcy.

Deputies say 59-year old Martin Buss of Cassville was traveling south in the northbound lane when he slammed on his brakes in an attempt to avoid a collision with an oncoming vehicle.

They say Buss skidded a short distance before losing control of his motorcycle.  The motorcycle then struck a guardrail and came to rest.

Buss was airlifted to a Syracuse hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities say speed appears to have been a factor in the accident.
